He encounters Laura, an amateur medium cursed by uncontrollable visions. With Laura’s help, Nick closes in on the origin of his treasure – a quest that puts them both in danger. A noir-inspired story full of mystery, myth and murder – all under a watchful eye in Italy’s vibrant city of Napoli.

The story includes many noir-genre tropes: The protagonist Nick is a disillusioned and cynical loner with questionable morals. There is a femme fatal central to the plot. The title points to the taste of a bitter and nauseating plant featured in the story. With the title and topics, Lorenzo captured a dark, suspenseful, uneasy and pessimistic story inspired by film noir.
THE TASTE OF DATURA is Petruzziello’s second self-published, noir-inspired story, and follows his theme of writing stories set in Italy. His first noir novel A MISTAKE INCOMPLETE was set in Milan and currently available at bookstores including Barnes & Noble, Amazon, and local indie bookshops, of course.
