Hello readers! Many of you have been wondering how my new book is coming along and will you ever see it? Well, it’s taking me a while to write it because, as many of you know, I do this in my spare time. (You can read more about my struggles in writing in my spare time here.)
I’m happy to report that after some time off from writing, and after some worrisome moments of writer’s block, I finally got this new story moving again. In fact, it’s moved so well that I’m in the middle of the story’s climax. And that’s a great thing because once I get over this hump, the story is all downhill coast from there; mainly because I already know how this story will end.
What’s this new story about, you ask? Well, I can’t give you details yet, but I will tell you it’s a fun neo-noir-style caper set in modern day Milan. But, hold your horses, I’m still working on the first draft. I know it’s taking me a long time, but as I’ve mentioned before, writing part-time is tough.
Once this first draft is complete, I will be going over it all again and add, edit, embellish, etc., etc. to make sure it flows correctly. Although it will be a lot of work, I know it will move at an easier organized pace.
Of course, I also have to think about how I will distribute this new book. Will I self-publish (which would be quick) or will I attempt for representation through a literary agent (which would take an even longer time)? Much to think about. I mean I could self publish – I think I did pretty well with The Love Fool; which was published through a hybrid publisher (Inkshares). And through that process, I learned a lot about distribution and bookstores, so I’ve got that under my belt. But let’s not forget, I handled the marketing and publicity myself, and I feel I could do a decent job again with this book. But wouldn’t it be grand to have a literary agent and publisher to back me up? Yes, it would. Like I said, much to think about.
I do plan to reach out to literary agents again, and see if I can get a bite. But, first I should focus on finishing up this draft and creating a polished piece of work.
In the meantime, keep up with my writing status on Twitter and Instagram.
