El Corazón del Amante

A ceremonial elixir for sacrificing the heart of one’s lover. Used to soothe broken dreams and hurtful tears, and to summon a cruel revenge. Be certain to follow the instructions as written below.

How to enact the spell

After mixing the drink, take the chalice, raise it towards the midnight moon, and speak the chant:

I lift the scorning heart of the lover,
Paired with a shattered soul.

Say the second part while swirling the chalice slowly down to your mouth.

Turning the vessel back to me,
to mend the battered whole.

Then, take one sip. Stomp your left foot on the ground, then lift the goblet again and repeat three times. Warning: Do not speak any other words until the third round has been completed.


Note: The recipe below is meant to fill a 22 oz goblet or chalice. Feel free to use any vessel you have. Adjust recipe as needed. A large batch also included below.

Course Drinks
Servings 1 goblet

Ingredients
  

  • ½ oz mezcal
  • 1 oz Allspice Dram
  • 1½ oz guava juice
  • ½ oz sweet vermouth
  • 3 drops orange blossom
  • 1-2 wheels orange
  • 1 hibiscus flower in syrup
  • 1-2 wheels orange
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 1 bunch edible flowers
  • 1 bunch mint

Instructions
 

  • Pour mezcal, allspice dram, vermouth, and guava juice into a cocktail shaker with ice.
  • Shake vigorously.
  • Sift into chalice (or goblet) filled with crushed ice.
  • Add 1 or 2 orange wheels into drink.
  • Drop 2-3 drops of orange blossom onto drink.
  • With a cocktail pick, poke a hibiscus flower and an orange wedge, then lay it across the top of the cup.
  • Stick a cinnamon stick and bunches of mint into the drink and serve with a straw.
