Il Limonaro

The drink is similar to a bitter cherry lemonade. I wanted to remember the sweet taste of the popsicles or shaved ice enjoyed in the summertime, but I leaned in on a bitter and bubbly sipper.

Il Limonaro cocktail is meant to remind us of standing on a terrace overlooking the Amalfi Coast. Imagine the sea crashing onto the massive rocks that reach up from below. The cool sea breeze scented with s a hint of salt, seaweed and minerals that replenish your skin as you splash into its clear turquoise waters.

What is Limonaro?

The name was derived from a mesh of the words limone (lemon) and amaro. But, I realized that my new word could easily be misinterpreted to have been derived from the italian term limonare – which means to kiss with tongue. With some indication, limonaro could mean a guy known to kiss with tongue. I did not intend this, but I think I appreciate the double meaning. ha!
