As I wait for news on the publishing date for THE LOVE FOOL – and thank you all for your patience on that – I’ve decided to dig into some old research.
I’ve been looking at other story ideas and may want to revive one that I’ve always wanted to put together. Although, I’ve started writing some chapters here and there, I need a real spark to get the juices flowing. And what better way to do that than plan a trip! And it seems that this old research is leading me to go back to Naples.
Now, you should know that this is ironic for me – as I’ve always, to the chagrin of my friends, hesitated on visiting Naples. I mean, I’ve been to the city several times over the years – it’s only 40 minutes from where the family home sits down south. But being in Naples, for me, was always just too chaotic and noisy. But when you want that damn good pizza, you have to do it, right?
I’m very fortunate enough to have experienced some of the city’s museums, opera house, historic sights/cafes – but always, I placed a shadow of anxious and unnerving feeling to loom above. And I know that it is very unfair to go about thinking of a place as such. And maybe it’s time I take another look and embrace the beauty that is Napoli.
So, on my next trip to Italy, I proclaim that I will give Naples/Napoli a real chance; even spend a few days/nights there and really take it in: the culture, the history and the people. And no, you cannot join me – stop asking. Ha!
Look forward to more on this next year. In the meantime, I’ll check back with you all as soon as I hear any news regarding THE LOVE FOOL.
