About the title and what is datura?
I had a lot of trouble coming up with a title that would evoke a dark and suspenseful feel. After some time contemplating between different title ideas, I finally chose THE TASTE OF DATURA.
Datura stramonium, also known as jimson weed, is a poisonous plant that belongs to the deadly nightshade family. Known to produce a mind-altering and amnesia-like effect. Its taste is both bitter and nauseating. It’s quite cringy, isn’t it? (I only hope that description won’t be a reflection of any forthcoming reviews. Ha!)
The title THE TASTE OF DATURA is meant to fit among classic noir titles like The Blue Gardenia or The Night of The Hunter or Arsenic and Old Lace.
THE STORY: A TEASE
I’m not ready to tell you what this story is about, but I can tell you it’s probably not what many of you may be thinking. I’ve mentioned before that THE TASTE OF DATURA is set in Naples, Italy. But, I want to remind and stress that THE TASTE OF DATURA is a noir-inspired suspense novel. It’s not going to be about strolling the Amalfi Coast, or enjoying a pizza, or anything dreamy that we think about when we see the word Naples. This is a story that is meant to be dark with intrigue. A story that happens to be set in Naples.
Pre-Order and Release
I’m working as fast I can to get THE TASTE OF DATURA released sometime in the Spring 2024. With that said, pre-order options should be available some time this summer. But I will update you as soon as things move along. Look for updates on my website, Instagram, Facebook, and email.
