Those who follow my posts regularly will know that I have started writing a new story; which as of now is also set in Italy. At the moment, I have my characters bouncing about Milan. I chose Milan as a nod to the time I spent there on my study abroad program back in 1996.
Will my characters stay in Milan? I’m not sure. I really don’t know where the story will lead them to yet. I mean, I know what’s going to happen in the story, but I haven’t ironed out the details yet. I’m just writing away — when I can — and will see where this story takes them.
I try to work on this new story in between working on the marketing strategy for my first novel The Love Fool; and doing all that after working at my day job. Why did I start this side gig again?
I posted this blog entry because I’ve hit a period of not working on the new story. As you can see, a lot is going on. But I don’t want to let this new project go for too long. I just need a little spark to get things moving again. I’m not worried. I am confident I will get back to the new story because I’m excited to write it.
But, I suppose it’s not all that bad. I mean I do work on the story in a way. I constantly research or find information for the new story. I read about Milan and the culture, for example; and making lists of places and anything to explore when I return to Milan for a visit later this season.
Yes, I plan to finally make it back again. And my goal is to revisit areas and places that I had discovered during my time there. But the trip won’t be only for nostalgia purposes, of course. I know being there will inspire a push to get back to writing this new story.
More to come about my upcoming trip. But for now, it’s time to get back to work.

Ah, Milano — the perfect setting to introduce gli Americani to “la bella figura!”

Agreed. And I love these two characters that I created – and what they do.
