April, 18, 2013: On my second day in San Juan, I decided to take a ‘Drive Around Food Tour’ with Spün Food Tours. As a first time visitor to San Juan, this was a perfect intro to get a layout of the overall city based on its food offerings. (Because, that’s how I roll. Ha!)
Our guide was Spün’s founder Paulina – whom is also co-founder of PR Restaurant Week (May). We met in Old San Juan, and in a private vehicle, we also made eating stops in metro San Juan including Santurce and Piñones. We visited places Paulina and other locals would go to eat. Of course, later on my trip, I did go back to have a full meal at some of the places we visited.
Below are some photos of what we feasted on during the tour; including mofongo (both plantain or yucca), empanadillas, grouper fish tacos and fresh coconut water. Paulina did mention she will soon be offering culinary vacation experiences and it just may entice me to go back to see the rest of Puerto Rico.
